Bichi Borghesi

CHIANTI, TUSCANY, ITALY

Still run by decendants of founder Luigi Bichi Borghesi, who died around a century ago, the family link to the land dates back to around 1650 when Cardinal Antonio Bichi Borghesi bought farms around the village of Scorgiano, creating the estate.

Chianti is undoubtedly one of the great names of Italian wines. There are 8 zones of Chianti, of which Chianti Colli Senesi is one and it covers the vineyards around the medieval town of Siena. Tenuta Bichi Borghesi is a large estate of over 400ha but with only 20ha under vine, which provides all the grapes for their production. The family has owned and run the estate for over 400 years, and it is with the new generation that the estate has been renewed and re-invigorated.

A full flavoured wine with distinctly earthy tones. Quite rich on the nose, followed by a substantial breadth on the palate and good length on the finish. Sun drenched Toscana can always pull something out of the bag and this delicious Chianti is no exception. Seek it out
