Delivery & FAQs
We offer delivery across mainland UK, at a cost of £8.50 per order. We use DHL as our courier to ensure the safe arrival of your products, and you will receive tracking updates accordingly.
Due to our store opening hours and to ensure freshness of your goods, all orders are dispatched on Wednesdays to Fridays each week. If you are ordering for the weekend, please place your order by 1pm on a Friday to ensure it arrives on time.
Please note we do not deliver on Sundays or bank holidays.
Click & Collect
Avoid the queues by using our free Click & Collect service – simply place your order online and collect your order from our store at your convenience. Orders placed by midnight can be collected the following day, and we are open seven days a week. Please just choose your pickup time at checkout.
Please note that certain items, like grazing platters require 24 hours’ notice for collection – these items are all noted on our site.
If you need to amend an order after it has been placed, please contact us as soon as possible on 0141 482 9277 and we will do our best to accommodate you. If you need to amend but have booked outside business hours or on a monday and tuesday contact either Orders@wearestarteculture.com or Hello@wearestarterculture.com
If you would like to cancel a booking for one of our tasting events, please note that for a full refund, cancellations are allowed up to a week before the event. Refunds will be given as a gift voucher to be used in the shop.
Our store is based in the heart of Glasgow’s Southside, and showcases our full range of fine cheeses, wine and beers, charcuterie, deli items, spirits and store cupboard essentials. Our team are on hand to welcome you in-store and have fantastic product knowledge on that we can’t wait to share with you.
Our Standard Opening Hours:
- Wednesday – Saturday 10am – 6pm
Sunday 11am – 5pm
When buying cheese, we recommend a general rule of 40g per person. If you would like to speak to our team beforehand for advice about how much or buy, or what type of cheeses you think you would like, please just give us a call or pop into the store.
Cheese & Wine Pairings

We like to keep our cheeses refrigerated. If you have a larder or seller, then whole, hard cheeses can be stored there, but otherwise stick to the fridge. We'd suggested using the salad drawer, which is slightly more humid than the rest of there fridge. You can also store your cheese within a sealed plastic tub if you are worried about the smell.
To get the best flavour from your cheese, we suggest taking it out of the fridge an hour or so before serving. This allows the fats in the cheese to warm up and its texture to change.
Shelf Life of Cheese
While this can vary from one cheese to the next, as a general rule hard cheeses will last up to 14 days, while soft cheeses can be stored for 10-14 days. Just ensure they are carefully wrapped and refrigerated. All of the cheeses you purchase from us will be labelled with a best before date.
Our cheeses are carefully wrapped in wax paper and labelled with the cheese's name, info and a best before date. We also offer gift packaging if you are ordering a hamper or gift.
