Produced by Vito Lauria, a Sicilian local with winemaking in his family’s blood. In 1958, Vito’s grandfather, also named Vito, founded a family winery which later had to close due to economic hardship in 1993.
Vito was determined to revitalize the family winery. After studying winemaking in Friuli he expanded his experience working with some outstanding local wineries. Between 2005 and 2010, while working for others, he spent his spare time renovating the family winery at Alcamo in the northwest. As a result, the winery site and building are still the original.
Frappato is a light-bodied, red grape, indigenous to Sicily. In the instance of this Rose Frappato, the grapes have been left to ferment in stainless steel with skin contact in the press for just a very few hours to extract some of the lovely ripe flavours from the skins of the organic 100% Frappato grapes.
